Count down to Christmas

I was determined to make an advent calendar for the boys this year.
I pinned about 20 ideas from Pinterest in hopes that I would get inspired to do something over the top.  Well you know how that goes.  I also did not want to spend any money on the project which really limited my creativeness....which is already almost nonexistent.  So on December 1st, in a panic, I went looking around the house and garage for ANYTHING I could use.  I had a board and old rusty wire.  But what to use for the numbers?  I thought about mason jar rings but they were a bit too large for this board.  So I was thinking, "What do I have a lot of?"  Curtain rings!  I had bought two bags of 30 rings for 50 cents each at a garage sale a while back.  They were the perfect size and of course I had plenty of them.  Sheet music hot glued to each ring was quick and easy.  I wanted to stencil some pretty numbers but time was running out so I chose to free hand them.  Not my best work but it will do.  We are on day 9 and the boys have loved it!  They don't care if the numbers are stenciled.  They just want to know what fun activity is on the back.  (I've been adding those each day while they're at school by the way.)  Perhaps next Christmas I'll fine tune this calendar but for now, it's up and running and that's what's really important.
