French Toast
bread
1/2 cup of sugar
1 egg
1 cup of milk
butter for the pan
cinnamon to sprinkle on top (optional)
( You can also use 3/4 cup of milk and 1/4 cup of half and half to make it a little sweeter.)
This makes about 12 slices. I use a griddle and keep it on about 300 degrees.
Put the sugar in a mixing bowl. Add egg and stir until mixed well. Add in the milk and stir until it's all mixed together with no sugar/egg lumps. Butter your pan then dip each slice of bread into the mixture and on to the pan. Sprinkle each slice of bread with cinnamon. Cook on each side until it's the golden color you want. Some people sprinkle powdered sugar on top but these are sweet enough that there is no need for more sugar or syrup. Enjoy!
I thought to put this on the blog halfway through cooking it. I've made these for years and the mister loves them and the boys even like them too. They call them roast beef oven sandwiches so we'll go with that.
Ingredient amounts depend on how many sandwiches you want to make. I usually make 6 for the 4 of us.
Roast Beef Oven Sandwiches
Deli roast beef
Provolone sliced cheese
Kaiser rolls
Lipton onion soup mix
French's French fried onions
Provolone sliced cheese
Kaiser rolls

Make soup on stove top according to directions on box. When it boils add roast beef slices to soup just for a minute. Open each roll and lay out on baking sheet. Add a slice of roast beef to each. Then add cheese and some onions. Broil just until buns are golden and cheese is melted. Onions will brown some too. Use remainder of soup for dipping.
